Hydor is pleased to announce the launch of its new aquaculture insurance offering, available from 1 July. The new line will be supported by first-class security and delivered by a specialist aquaculture team based in Newcastle.
The launch marks an important step in Hydor’s continued growth as a specialist marine insurer and reinforces the company’s commitment to providing focused, technical and service-driven solutions to clients and brokers across the marine sector.
Hydor’s aquaculture offering will serve clients operating across marine and freshwater aquaculture, with a focus on practical underwriting, strong risk understanding and responsive claims support. The team brings extensive sector experience, combining insurance expertise with direct knowledge of fish farming operations, biological risk, stock health, site assessment and loss prevention.
Folkert Strengholt, CEO of Hydor, commented:
“Hydor has always focused on specialist marine business where technical knowledge, underwriting discipline and strong relationships matter. Aquaculture is a natural extension of that approach. From 1 July, we are pleased to offer aquaculture insurance supported by first-class security and delivered by an experienced team with deep sector knowledge. We see a clear opportunity to provide brokers and clients with a focused, responsive and technically strong alternative in this important market.”
James Simison, speaking on behalf of the aquaculture team, said:
“We are excited to join Hydor and to build a specialist aquaculture proposition from our base in Newcastle. Aquaculture clients face increasingly complex biological, operational and environmental risks, and they need an insurance partner that understands both the industry and the practical realities of farming. Our team combines underwriting, risk management, claims and hands-on aquaculture experience, and we look forward to working closely with brokers and clients from 1 July.”
The aquaculture team, led by James Simison, brings together deep specialist expertise across underwriting, claims, risk management, fish health, farming operations and technical surveying. This blend of insurance, technical and operational expertise will enable Hydor to provide a highly specialised aquaculture offering, supported by practical insight, disciplined underwriting and first-class claims and risk management capabilities.
The Newcastle-based team will work closely with Hydor’s wider marine insurance platform to deliver a high-quality service proposition to the aquaculture market, with an emphasis on technical expertise, long-term relationships and disciplined portfolio growth.
